Waitaki MP and National’s Small Business spokesperson Jacqui Dean is coming to Central Otago to talk to small business owners and hear their concerns. (October 1)
“We recently launched our ‘Have Your Say’ initiative to understand the issues affecting small business, what Government policies are of most concern to them and what laws and regulations could be improved.
“I’m looking forward to speaking with local people to understand the issues that affect them and to offer my support - because for me to be able to make a difference I need to understand what small businesses in this area need.
“Already over 2150 people nationwide have submitted survey responses to us, reflecting that small businesses have concerns but feel like they’re being ignored by this Government.
“National urges all owners of small businesses to take part in our survey, get their concerns registered and help shape our policies, while those in Central Otago can arrange to speak with me directly on October 1.
“This Government is not only making it harder for small operators to do business, piling on costs and beefing up the power of its union members, but it’s refusing to listen to real concerns – and that’s not good enough.
“National is listening because we respect small business owners and because we recognise the contribution that they make to their communities and to our economy.
“Their ideas will all be considered as part of our policy development process for the 2020 election so we have the plans and policies to help their businesses grow.”
Mrs Dean will visit Oamaru on October 2.
