The Alps 2 Ocean cycle trail and the Central Trails Trust will receive a financial boost as the Government continues to invest in maintaining trail quality. National MP Jacqui Dean said she was pleased two cycle trails within the Waitaki electorate had been given the grants as the two were both local and national assets.

Waitaki MP Jacqui Dean chose not to speak at the Oamaru Health March on Sunday 5 July. The MP was listed to speak at Sunday's rally organised by Oamaru's mayor Gary Kircher on proposed funding cuts to the Waitaki District Health Board, but early Saturday the MP said developments since had caused her to withdraw.
