Waitaki MP Jacqui Dean said she supported moves by the Central Lakes Trust to improve its governance arrangements.

“The trust has supported a huge number of community projects and services, and is an important funding source in the Central Otago area.

“I support the proposed changes to the board’s structure, as it moves to retain community representation, while also ensuring it has the knowledge and skills set needed to meet future challenges.

“Announced today, the model has been thoroughly researched, is based on best practice and will help to future-proof the governance capability of the Trust into the future.

“I think the changes will also enhance the performance of the trust, allow governance continuity and ensure that it continues to be an asset to the Central Otago community for many more years to come.”
