New Wanaka fire station in action

Monday, August 22, 2016

Waitaki MP Jacqui Dean said she was pleased Wanaka’s new fire station was fully operational because of the benefits it would bring to the community.

“The building of the new $3 million-plus station is now complete and the brigade has been moving in to the new facility recently.

“Central North Otago area manager Keith McIntosh has told me that the station was fully operational from Saturday.

“This is a great milestone for the brigade and ushers in a new era for the volunteers and the community of the Upper Clutha.

“The new building houses the brigade's two appliances and fire rescue van and will provide volunteers with better facilities and more training space.

“I understand the new building will be officially opened in November.”
