Wanaka's new $13.9 million recreation centre at Three Parks is just the sort of facility that the town needs, according to Waitaki MP Jacqui Dean.

"It looks amazing and I'm so impressed with the size and the quality of the project.

"This is exactly what the town needs and it will provide a fantastic facility for everyone in the town, from school students, to local atheletes.

"I toured the centre yesterday with Queenstown Lakes District Council deputy mayor Lyall Cox and got a first hand look at what's on offer.

"It's been a long time coming, but now that it's underway the real value of this project is becoming a reality.

"I also think its exciting that the council has brought forward construction of the new swimming and learners pool, alongside the sports facility, so that the two projects are being built together.

"Due to be opened next month, everyone involved in the recreation centre should be congratulated on having the passion and the vision to get this complex off the ground for the benefit of the Wanaka community."
