Hotel damand research valuable for region
Waitaki MP Jacqui Dean said new research, which pointed to the need for more hotels to cope with expected tourism demand, provided a significant insight for the Otago region.
“The independent research, released by New Zealand Trade and Enterprise, estimates that 26 additional hotels will be needed over the next ten years.
“I think this information is significant and provides a platform for places like Queenstown and Wanaka to assess their accommodation needs into the future.
“I think it’s exciting that this data has been put together for the first time, revealing the effect that tourism growth will have on hotel occupancy.
“Communities right across New Zealand are benefiting from the unprecedented growth in tourism, and the Government is focused on ensuring our towns and cities are well placed to host these visitors.”
