Waitaki MP Jacqui Dean said the community response to Government funding to inter-connect Central Otago’s cycle trail project had been hugely positive.

“There’s a real sense of excitement around Central Otago that this funding has come through.

“The Budget certainly wasn’t a lolly scramble and I think people feel quite fortunate that this money has come to Central Otago.

“People have been contacting me and saying that this money will be a game changer for the region’s cycle trails, with one person suggesting it will set these rides apart on the international stage.

“The project will connect Queenstown, Roxburgh Gorge, Clutha Gold and Otago Central Rail Trails, creating a fantastic ride which will be a huge visitor draw card.

“I’m delighted for the people of Central Otago that this marvellous project is now set to proceed and I’m pleased that the Government has allowed it to happen.”
