Local grants

Waitaki MP Jacqui Dean encourages local community groups to remember the Community Organisation Grants Scheme (Cogs) should they be seeking funds to further their own groups aims and ideals.

The 2016/17 COGS funding round is now open for applications.

Cogs is a community driven scheme in which the government provides funding to non-profit organisations and groups that deliver community-based social services.

Funds are distributed through 37 local distribution committees following decision based on local needs and priorities  including administrative and volunteering expenses.

Last year local COGS committees distributed $12.5million through 4159 grants to community groups across New Zealand.

Applications for this year’s funding round close on June 8, 2016.
