Waitaki MP Jacqui Dean is giving her support to a cycling ride, from Picton to Bluff, which aims to raise $250,000 for New Zealand Hospices and she hopes to meet the group in Wanaka today.

“I’m inspired and impressed by these three 60 year-olds who are cycling 1365Km in 18 days to raise funds for hospice.

“Jeff and Virginia Poole are undertaking the fund-raising ride, after they lost their good friend Marlene Ellis to cancer in November last year. Her husband Tony is the third member of the team.

“The trio are riding in memory of Marlene with the express objective of raising a minimum $250,000 for equal distribution among all 29 Hospice organisations throughout NZ.

“This is such a special journey and a fantastic effort, with 100 percent of every dollar raised being equally distributed to hospices around the country.

“I give this group my support and hope to meet with them on their journey as they ride the 74 Km from Makarora to Wanaka today.”

“The team has already raised over $70,000 and have set up a give a little page for donations.” https://givealittle.co.nz/cause/ridingforhospice
