Arbor Week focus on environment
Waitaki MP and Blue Greens member Jacqui Dean said she encouraged people to think about the environment this Arbor week.
"This is New Zealand’s first Arbor Week and it’s a great opportunity for people to focus on being kind to the environment.
“It’s also a chance for everyone to look at ways to improve the way that they live or work to protect our great outdoors, particularly around recycling.
"Running to June 7 the country's first Arbor week will involve the planting of about 900 trees with groups from schools and businesses, to the Department of Conservation and community groups, chipping in.
"The week also coincides with World Environment Day, on June 5, and is a great chance for all of us to do something for the environment, and make a lasting contribution to keeping New Zealand green."
