More doctors and nurses taking care of Southern patients
Families throughout the South are receiving care from more doctors and nurses under National than ever before.
Our dedicated health workforce is making a real difference for patients in our region. As of 31 March 2015 there were 484 doctor and 1450 nurse full-time equivalents employed by Southern DHB. That’s 66 more doctors and 195 more nurses compared to 2008, including 59 more senior doctors and 51 more senior nurses.
While many other countries are freezing or reducing health funding, we're committed to protecting and growing our public health services.
Health funding has increased every year under this Government and once again Health is expected to receive the largest share of new funding in Budget 2015.
