Youth development partnership funds on offer
Waitaki MP Jacqui Dean said she encouraged councils around Otago to consider applying for funding under the 2015 Youth Development Partnership Fund.
“Councils can apply for a share of $889,000 in funding to help them work with young people in projects that are good for them and for the community.
“This is a great way to get young people, aged 12 to 24, involved in their community, so that their views are reflected in the projects and facilities around them.
“We’re trying to help young people develop skills such as leadership and entrepreneurial ability, at the same time contributing to their communities.
“This year there will be greater emphasis on supporting projects that take a commercial approach to solving social or environmental challenges.
“I’d love to see some funding coming back to our region and so I encourage councils to give this funding programme some thought.”
Mrs Dean said the minimum amount that can be awarded for a project is $10,000 and the maximum amount is $70,000 and applications close on April 17.
