Central Otago farmers feature at Glammies
Waitaki MP Jacqui Dean said she was delighted Central Otago farmers featured in the finalists of the 2015 Beef + Lamb New Zealand Golden Lamb Awards.
“I’ve attended the finals of the Glammies at the Wanaka Show for many years now and it’s always something that I look forward to.
“This year will be particularly exciting with two Central Otago farmers in the finals.
“Omakau farmer Andrew Paterson’s Polwarth lamb has been selected as one of the top four in the traditional best of breed class, while Cromwell’s Robbie Gibson is a finalist in the crossbreed class with his Merino/Southdown lamb.
“These farmers will be delighted with their success, with over 150 entries received this year, as the search for the nation’s most tender and tasty lamb heats up.
“Their success reflects the quality of sheep breeding that’s happening in the Central Otago area and is a tribute to their efforts and hard work.
“The Grand Final for the Glammies will be held at the Wanaka A&P Show this Friday. I’m looking forward to the event once again and wish these local contestants well.”
Mrs Dean said she also wanted to congratulate Palmerston farmers James and Liane Crutchley who were finalists in the open section of the Glammies with their Romney/Texel lambs.
