Dean welcomes Otago support for Rules Reduction
Rules Reduction Taskforce co-chairwoman and Waitaki MP Jacqui Dean said she welcomed the support of the Otago Chamber of Commerce and the Otago-Southland Employers Association as the Government works towards cutting rules and red tape.
Mrs Dean said she was heartened to hear that these two important groups had thrown their weight behind the work she was doing through the taskforce and she encourage employers across Otago and Southland to consider making submissions.
“There are many small business operators across the two regions who may find that rules and red tape are taking them away from the important work of improving and stimulating their businesses.
“I want to hear from them to ensure that the taskforce takes on board the issues that local businesses face, with a view to freeing them up to get on with growing the regional economies within which they operate.
“The task force will then report back to the Government, outlining areas where improvements can be made and red tape cut.
“The Rules Reduction Taskforce will begin holding public meetings to consider submissions next month after Local Government Minister Paula Bennett last week announced the nine members who would join co-chairs Mrs Dean and Auckland Chamber of Commerce chief executive Michael Barnett.
Mrs Dean said Southern business operators would be particularly pleased to see well known and respected Southern businessman Ian Tulloch had been selected for the panel.
