Waitaki MP Jacqui Dean said she urged farmers to consider contributing to the Government’s new Rules Reduction Taskforce.

Mrs Dean has been selected to chair the new taskforce which aims to cut the red tape around housing and property regulations and local rules.

“I’m pleased that Federated Farmers has picked up on this issue, urging its members to have a say. It is also great to see that the lobby group is creating its own submission and calling on farmers to contribute to that.

“I believe the Rules Reduction Taskforce has the potential to create real change for rural communities, including property owners, builders, tradespeople and rural businesses.

“It’s about getting rid of the stupid rules and regulations that affect people’s lives, adding delays and expense to development projects, both large and small.

“There will be a variety of ways to engaging, including making a submission online at www.govt.nz/rulesreduction, along with targeted meetings around the country and visits to building sites by local MPs.”
