Successful Waitaki MP Jacqui Dean has thanked voters for their continuing support following her successful bid for another term as their electorate MP.

Mrs Dean said her re-election for another three years was something she hadn't taken for granted and she fully intended to continue to work hard for all of the electorate.

"I thank everyone for their trust and their support. During our campaign we laid out a clear plan to keep New Zealand and the Waitaki headed in the right direction. We will remain focused on that and deliver better public services.”

Mrs Dean also acknowledged her opposition party candidates for keeping the campaign focused on the issues they saw as affecting the country.

"We didn't have the argy-bargy experienced in some regions and many  constituents refused to allow themselves to be drawn into or swayed by some of the arguments that were out-there.

Back at Parliament two days after the election, Mrs Dean said in the meantime it was business as usual.

"I don't know what might lie ahead for some weeks, but for now there's plenty to keep me going."

Besides her electorate MP role, Mrs Dean remains Law and Order Select Committee Chair and Parliamentary Private Secretary for Tourism and Local Government.
