Waitaki MP Jacqui Dean says she will relish her responsibilities as Opposition spokesperson for Small Business and Local Government.
National Party Leader Simon Bridges today announced his first caucus reshuffle.
Ms Dean says Small Business and Local Government are familiar territory and a perfect fit with her role as MP for Waitaki.
“As the former Minister for Small Business, I have a vested interest in this portfolio and the fact that this electorate is heavily reliant on small businesses makes it even more relevant for me.
“Small businesses make up 97% of all enterprises in New Zealand and make a significant contribution to our economy and society. I will hold the Government to account to ensure small business owners can continue to operate with confidence.
“Local Government is also a portfolio that I am well versed in. Having previously served as Associate Minister for Local Government, and with my experience on the Waitaki District Council and work as the chair of the Rules Reduction Task Force, I am very familiar with how Central and Local Government can and should work together.
“I will work hard across both these areas and continue to advocate strongly in the best interests of the Waitaki electorate in Parliament.”
