Waitaki MP Jacqui Dean said she was pleased to see Central Otago farmers being proactive around water quality in their area.
“It’s great to see local farmers getting involved in monitoring water quality on their farms.
"Some farmers have recently begun working with the Otago Regional Council in monitoring water quality and Mrs Dean said she hoped others would follow suit.
“I would like to think that this will mean that both parties can consult and work together cohesively when it comes to decision-making around water flows, water quality and potential irrigation projects in the future.
“I think it’s excellent that Central farmers are working with the Otago Regional Council and sharing information.
“The more information local farmers can gather, the better position they are in to understand and improve water quality in the area."
